The division III FGCU hockey team finished up another successful season going 26-4 overall.

The Eagles advanced to the playoffs and won their first three games vs. Adrian College 2-1, South Connecticut 7-1, and Marquette 4-2.

They ultimately fell to Calvin on March 17th losing 3-2 to end their season. The game was tied 1-1 after two periods, but the Eagles gave up two goals in the third period and found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

FGCU scored 184 goals in the thirty games they played which equals 6.13 goals per game.

In comparison, the Pittsburgh Penguins lead the NHL with a 3.42 goals per game so scoring is not something the Eagles struggle with.

To go along with the 184 goals this season, the Eagles had three games where they scored 10 or more goals including an 18-goal performance vs. Embry-Riddle. They also had a 14-goal game vs. the same team and outscored them 32-1 in those two games.

On the defensive side of things, these Eagles only allowed 38 goals, which brings their goals allowed to an astonishing 1.27 per game.

To compare that with the NHL best defensive team, the Washington Capitals allow 2.14, which is nearly a goal more than FGCU gives up.

Between the division II and Division III hockey team, the two teams combined to 46-6-7 as hockey at FGCU continues to improve as they hope one day they can be division I eligible.

Despite not having the finishes the teams would like, they have a lot to look forward to next season as both of them have chances at winning a National Championship yearly.
